April 26, 2008 Tour of Lighthouse for Point Lookout State Park Volunteers

April 26, 2008

Robert Hall welcomed volunteers and their families to a special tour of the lighthouse on Saturday morning. The kids ranged in age from 3 to 10, and participated in several learning activities including, "count the lima beans" to illustrate just how long ago 178 years was. The group also listened to the Point Lookout song by Janie Meneely. The group then viewed the surrounding area from the cupola. A special thanks to all the visitors for their interest and genorosity.

North Side Living Room

Everyone gathers in the north side living room to answer Robert's questions about what the children learned.

Parents stand watch as the visitors take turns enjoying the view from the cupola.

Everyone listens intently to the Point Lookout song. After the song, the kids discussed the stories from the song, including the wreck of the steamship Express and the disembodied scream.

The youngest visitors pose on the east side steps of the lighthouse.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the next Open House to be held on May 3rd from 10 am until 2 pm. The PLLPS will also be attending Piney Point Days on May 10th and 11th.
