Point Lookout Lighthouse Preservation Society (PLLPS), Inc.

Labor Day Open House sees 139 visitors

The PLLPS greeted 139 visitors to the best weather imaginable: sunny, warm but neither hot nor humid.  Among the visitors were two descendents of Keeper William Yeatman. Unfortunately, the lighthouse is still without electrical power, but the Navy is aware of the problem.  The Coal and Buoy Sheds have not been officially turned over yet, however, the dumpster full of debris has been removed from the restricted area, so that is a very encouraging sign.

A planning session was held for the upcoming Spirits of Point Lookout Event, which will include a very special show at the lighthouse this year. Eunice Knott, Kim Hammond and Robert Hall volunteered for PLLPS; Chuck Kohls volunteered for the Chesapeake Chapter of the U.S. Lighthouse Society and did a wonderful job greeting the visitors. We also welcomed our newest volunteers Rie Sadler and Keri Lester.  Thanks for spending part of your Labor Day weekend volunteering for the lighthouse!
